Configure your conversations notification preferences

In your conversation settings, you can set up how you wish to be notified when a visitor starts a chat, sends an email, or sends a message through Facebook Messenger.

To see the number of new messages in the inbox tab of your browser window:
  • In your HubSpot account, click the settings icon settings in the main navigation bar.
  • In the left sidebar menu, navigate to Conversations > Notifications.
  • Click to toggle the Browser tab notification switch on.
  • Click Save.

To turn on floating notification sounds:

  • In your HubSpot account, click your account name in the top right corner, then click Profile & Preferences.
  • In the left sidebar menu, navigate to Notifications.
  • In the General Settings section, select the Floating notification sound checkbox to turn on sound notifications.

Please note: to trigger the floating notification sound, floating notifications must be enabled and the user must be in the conversations inbox.

To disable all notifications or specific notifications for incoming threads, you can do so in your Profile & Preferences:

  • In your HubSpot account, click your account name in the top right corner, then click Profile & Preferences.
  • In the left sidebar menu, navigate to Notifications.
  • In the Assign section, click Advanced preferences.
  • Here you can select through which channel you want to receive notifications of new, unassigned, or reassigned conversations. To enable or disable notifications for a specific channel, select/clear the channel checkbox next to the notification type. Learn more about the different notification channels.

Please note: if you enable/disable New Chat conversation, New unassigned Chat conversation, or Reassigned Chat conversation notifications, you're enabling/disabling notifications for live chat conversations, bot conversations, and Facebook Messenger conversations. Currently, you cannot receive email conversations notifications via mobile.

To receive notifications via the Slack integration:

  • Click the Integrations tab.
  • To disable all Slack notifications, click to toggle the Slack switch off. In the dialog box, click Yes, turn off.
  • If you only want to receive notifications via a specific channel, in the Assign section, click Advanced preferences.
  • Select the checkbox(es) next to the notifications you want to be notified of in your Slack channel.

Please note:

  • Users will only receive notifications from unassigned conversations after they have visited their Conversations inbox at least once.
  • If you have followed the steps above but are not receiving notifications, ensure that your browser settings are configured to support push notifications.
