View and edit individual lead records

Creating leads in HubSpot allows your team to record and retrieve information for your prospects. Once created, you can store information for a lead by interacting with a lead record. You can review and edit your leads and their current status, activities, associations, and more.
If you have an assigned Sales Hub seat and a Super Admin has given you access to the Leads tab, you can view and edit leads in the sales workspace. If you're a Super Admin, you can also view leads on the leads summary page (BETA).
To view a lead record:
- Click the Leads tab.
- On the Leads page, locate the record you want to work with and click the name.
- In the right panel, you can view the lead. Learn how to customize a record's layout.
- To expand each section of the right panel, use the doright riright arrow and the downdown arrow to collapse.
- (BETA) To launch guided execution for your leads, in the bottom left, click Open in queue.
The following information applies to lead records by default.
Add activities
To complete actions for leads:
- Click the Leads tab.
- On the Leads page, locate the record you want to work with and click the name.
- In the right panel, add activities to the record by clicking the respective icons. By default, icons for note, email, call, task, and meeting are shown.
- If you perform an action like sending an email or making a call and logging the outcome as Connected, the lead status will automatically be updated. For example, if you email a New lead, after sending the email, their status will be updated to Attempting. Below is a list of all the actions that move a lead to an In Progress stage:

Below is a table that shows how actions result in an automatic update to the lead stage:
Lead stage | Action or Logic |
---|---|
New | Lead created from the lead settings will automatically have this value. |
Attempting | When the lead owner sends an email, calls, logs an activity, schedules a meeting or creates a task for the lead. |
Connected | When the lead replies to your email, or if there are activities such as logging a call with a Connected outcome or completed meeting outcome. |
Disqualified | Must be manually updated. |
Qualified | Must be manually updated. |
Actions and properties
The right sidebar shows the actions you can take for the record and properties. Learn how you can customize the right panel for all users and teams.
Actions
In the right panel, in the About this lead section, click Actions, then select from the following:- Customize Properties: click to customize the right panel for all users and teams. You can also click the settingsgear icon next to actions.
- View all properties: click to view all of the record's properties.
- View property history: click to view the history of the record's property values.
Properties
You can view and edit the record's property values on the About this lead section. customize the right panel for all users and teams. Users with Super Admin permissions can also customize the section for the users in the HubSpot account.
- Click the Leads tab.
- On the Leads page, locate the record you want to work with and click the name.
- In the right panel, in the About this lead section, to edit a property value, hover over a property and click the edit pencil icon.
Lead stage tracker
To view the lead stage tracker:
- Click the Leads tab.
- On the Leads page, locate the record you want to work with and click the name.
- In the right panel, in the Lead stage tracker section, you can review when you last contacted the lead and when their last engagement was. You can also view their next activity.
- To edi the Owner, Lead type, or Stage click the dropdown menu, and select an option.
- If the lead doesn’t have an activity scheduled for the future, you can schedule the next activity by selecting the Schedule dropdown menu. You can also schedule the next activity directly from the leads list.

- In the Previous activities section, you can view the last five activities with the associated record before the lead was created. Click the activity to view the full activity.
Associations
To view lead associations:
- Click the Leads tab.
- On the Leads page, locate the record you want to work with and click the name.
- In the right panel, you can view previews of the record's associated records.
Communications
To view your recent communications for a lead:
- Click the Leads tab.
- On the Leads page, locate the record you want to work with and click the name.
- In the right panel, in the Recent communications section, you can view your three most recent communications.
- To expand each communication, use theright riright arrow and use the down down arrow to collapse.

- To set your call or meeting outcomes, click the Select an outcome dropdown and select an option.
Activities
You can view previous, recent, and upcoming activities.
- Click the Leads tab.
- On the Leads page, locate the record you want to work with and click the name.
- In the right panel, in the Previous activities section, you can view activities that occurred to the associated contact or company before the lead was created. Click the activity to view more details.
- In the right panel, in the Recent and Upcoming activities sections, you can view the three most recent or the three nearest upcoming activities.
- Enter a term in the search bar to search for a specific activity.
- To view specific activity types, click the Filter by dropdown menu, then select or clear the checkboxes next to the desired activities.
- To expand or collapse an activity, click the right arrow to expand and the down arrow to collapse. To expand or collapse all activities on the card, click Collapse all, then select Expand all or Collapse all.
- To edit an activity, expand the activity, then edit its details.
- To view all details for an activity, expand the activity.
Playbooks
To view playbooks associated with your lead:
- Click the Leads tab.
- On the Leads page, locate the record you want to work with and click the name.
- In the right panel, in the Playbooks section, you can click a playbook to display certain prescribed questions or steps to guide the conversation.
