Configure your conversations notification preferences

In your conversation settings, you can set up how you'll be notified when a visitor starts a chat, sends an email, or sends a message through Facebook Messenger.
Before you can start receiving notifications for your conversations, make sure to navigate to the conversations inbox in your account. You can do so by navigating to Conversations > Inbox in the main HubSpot navigation.
Enable floating notification sounds
To turn on floating notification sounds:
- In your HubSpot account, click the settings icon settings in the main navigation bar.
- In the left sidebar menu, navigate to Notifications.
- Click the Desktop tab, In the Sound and Appearance section, select the Play a sound when you receive a new pop-up notification checkbox.
Please note: to trigger the floating notification sound, floating notifications must be enabled and the user must be in the conversations inbox.
Customize notifications for incoming threads
To turn off all notifications or specific notifications for incoming threads:
- In your HubSpot account, click the settings icon settings in the main navigation bar.
- In the left sidebar menu, navigate to Notifications.
- Click the Email, Desktop, Other apps and Mobile apps tabs to configure your notification by device type.
- In the Chat and email conversations section, select/clear the checkbox to manage notifications for new, unassigned, or reassigned conversations.
Chat notification settings apply to live chat, bot, and Facebook Messenger conversations. Turning any of the following notifications on/off will apply across all three chat types:
- New Chat conversation
- New unassigned Chat conversation
- Reassigned Chat conversation
Please note: you will not receive a notification for an unassigned bot conversation until the bot reaches the Send to a team member action and assigns the conversation to "No one."
Customize Slack notifications
To receive notifications via the Slack integration:
- In your HubSpot account, click the settings icon settings in the main navigation bar.
- In the left sidebar menu, navigate to Notifications.
- Navigate to the Other apps tab, click to toggle the Slack switch on.
- In the Chat and email conversations section, select/clear the checkbox to manage notifications for new, unassigned, or reassigned conversations.
Troubleshooting notifications
If you're not receiving notifications as expected, review the following:
- If you're not receiving sound notifications in your Chrome browser after enabling the Floating notification sound setting, navigate to chrome://settings/content/sound and make sure app.hubspot.com is not muted.
- Ensure that your browser settings are configured to support push notifications.
