Email opt-out status syncs between HubSpot and Salesforce by default. You can see the field mapping on the Contact Field Mappings screen. This mapping is uneditable in order to comply with CAN-SPAM laws.
- When a contact opts out from a HubSpot email or has the 'hasoptedoutofemail' checkbox checked in Salesforce, the other system will be updated.
- If a contact is already unsubscribed from HubSpot, unchecking the checkbox will not opt them back in.
- The only way for a contact to opt back in is to do so from the link contained in a HubSpot email.
- If a contact is not currently syncing between HubSpot and Salesforce (e.g. because of an inclusion list), the opt-out status will not update the other system until the contact syncs.
